ODM leader Raila Odinga has suggested that his presidential bid already has the blessings of the electorate across the country.
The former premier is set to make a major announcement on December 10 regarding his politics in the run-up to the oncoming presidential contest in 2022.
Raila: Kenyans want me as their leader
Speaking in Migori on Thursday, December 2, Raila said that while traversing the country for the popularisation of his Azimio la Umoja, the message he received from Kenyans was that they want him to occupy the highest office on the land.

“I have gone to Mt Kenya, Coast, Eastern, Western, North Eastern and even Rift Valley. The message I am getting is that the people want Raila Odinga to be their next president,” stated the ODM chief.
While Raila is yet to confirm his presence on the presidential ballot next year, all indications that he would be running to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta have been put forth.
Uhuru signals support for Raila
Should he declare an interest, the ODM chief, who has been enjoying a functioning camaraderie with the president, will be making his fifth stab at the presidency.
Uhuru recently hinted at endorsing Raila when he (Uhuru) rooted for an elderly leader.
While speaking in Nakuru county, where he had gone to confer a city status to the former municipality, the president likened the race to state house to a marathon, saying that those thought to be old could be the ones taking the lead at the end.

“To those who think they are young, please slow down. Voters should not be told that others are unwanted because they are old. The electorate is smart to make their choices. Leadership is here with us. It is not a sprint, it is like a marathon. You will begin so fast but that old man who started after you will pass before the race ends,” said the president.
William Ruto and Mount Kenya tycoons
Cronies and associates of the president have been rooting for a Raila presidency, with the tycoons from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region already throwing their weight behind him.
The much-hyped and awaited announcement by Raila on December 10 is expected to have an impact on how politicking will be conducted nationally as the 2022 general election fast approaches.
Already in the race to succeed Uhuru is his deputy William Ruto and the luminaries from the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) who are yet to settle on the coalition’s flagbearer.
