The wave of chaos in secondary schools is back. Students in Maranda school went into a rampage protesting what they termed as mistreatment by the school administration.
The students were complaining that they have been subjected to very strict boarding rules and being forced to wake up very early for their morning preps.
Siaya County Director of Education Japheth Masibo ordered the school to be closed indefinitely in order to control the situation to prevent further chaos.
This week has seen four major schools being closed; Kisumu Girls, Ngiya Girls, Chabli Boys and now Maranda High.
Kisumu Girls and Ngiya Girls were closed as a result of students’ protests while Chabli Boys in Marsabit was closed when the students attacked six non-local teachers.
As the trend continues, Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang gave a stern warning that the individuals who will be caught being involved in the activities will be treated as criminals and face the law.
