Kenyan Woman Says Baby Daddy Fled when Pregnancy Complications Made Her Sick: “In Laws Called Me a Burden”

A 32-year-old Kenyan woman named Mary Makero is in tears after her baby daddy abandoned her when she was at her lowest moment.

The lady who works as a security guard in Naivasha told TUKO.co.ke that after she and her now ex-husband moved in together, she got pregnant and was excited to start a family.

However, a month into her pregnancy, she began experiencing severe abdominal and back pains.

“I was diagnosed with fibroids. They made the whole journey of pregnancy quite a painful one. I gave birth via successful surgery but my life changed. I have been having severe back pains since then,” Makero told TUKO.co.ke in a phone interview.

Makero went for various tests, and she hasn’t been able to get conclusive answers on why the pains keep recurring.

She said that she ran out of money for more tests, and thus she decided to manage the pain.

“I live with that pain every day. What pains me the most is that my husband who promised to stand by me through thick and thin left me because of this. He said that I was too sick for him,” she added amid tears.

Rejection from in laws

Makero also noted that the man stopped supporting their daughter, and now she has to work as a security guard and fend for her daughter in her condition. She added that when she went to seek help from her in-laws, they told her that she was becoming a burden to their son.

So the heartbroken single mom wakes up every day, braves the pain, puts on a brave face and shows up at work. She shows up because of her daughter.

She admits that the little girl is her only strength. Makero’s only wish is if she could get help set up a business that can help support her and the child and cater for her hospital bills.

“I do not like to rely on other people. If only I could stop this excruciating pain, I would work so hard and focus on raising my daughter,” she said.

Makero also wonders if she will ever find love again or give birth again with this condition.

Woman says hubby left after misdiagnosis

Elsewhere, TUKO.co.ke published a story of a woman who said that her husband left her after she was misdiagnosed with cancer.

A heartbroken woman named Awuor Olivia has narrated how a visit to the hospital with warts ended up being a stage 3 cancer diagnosis. Olivia recalls how she had been experiencing pain in her pelvic area and decided to get it checked at the hospital.

“When the results came back I was told that I had cancer of the cervix and it was at its fourth stage. This meant that I had to just start treatment right away. It also meant spending lots of money on the treatment. I informed my husband about the diagnosis and he left me and my children saying he could not live with a dying woman,”s she told TUKO.co.ke in a phone interview.
